This was always going to be a tough ask when Yardley lined up without two of their more influential players in Jeevan and Alex who were unavailable through work commitments.
Yardley did quite well to hold their hosts to just a two-goal deficit at the break. Thinking that they might still get back into the game, the team tried to change shape to a more attacking mode. Some good early chances were created early on but Hampton’s more experienced side began to exert their influence and after two more goals were conceded, Yardley players began to lose their shape and they were sorely missing their absent colleagues.
Hampton’s final flurry added three more goals to complete a most comprehensive victory.
Yardley will be hoping that they will be able to field more like a full-strength side next week, at home against Old Halesonians.
