Goal scorer: Robin Stanley x2
Two goals from Stan, one in each half, gave CoBHC 2s their first victory of the season, albeit in the first league outing of the new season,
Stan’s goals came from a well-hit penalty corner in the first half while his second came from open play in the secnd half. However, this did not earn him the accolade of ‘Man of the Match’ as this was awarded to Jack, in goal, for his excellent performance saving numerous good shots on target throughout the game.
The first half performance from CoBHC was rather scrappy and the home team dominated the 35 minutes. CoBHC were somewhat lucky to take the lead against the run of play. Fatigue was the main reason the away team struggled combined with little composure on the ball.
However, the team re-grouped in the second half and kept switching positions when legs got tired. This unsettled the home team and movement on and off the ball improved dramatically giving the visitors better possession and more attacking play up front.
The game was played in the true meaning of hockey with both teams enjoying the fixture with strong but fair tackles and very honest play. The opposing team also voted our keeper MotM and promptly gave Jack a chocolate bar as reward!! I am sure he enjoyed it!!
Hopefully everyone is fit and available for our next game at home at 4pm to Wolverhampton and Tettenhall. For the first game of the season the team put in lots of hard work and will gain much confidence from the outcome.
