RACE NIGHT REPORT

Race Night 2021, our first as City of Birmingham HC, turned out to be a record breaker. in terms of the amount raised for the Club. I am sure that the Treasurer had a big smile on his face when the final amount was known.

Due to the hard work undertaken by club members, particularly the Chairman, we managed to obtain ten race sponsors which give us a good start. With 8 races, each with 8 horses running, meant that we needed to sell 64 horses. In the end we sold 112!! Pete managed to devise a method to include them all.

Other successful features of the evening were the traditional Jackpot, with 50% of the takings for this going to the winner – this too attracted a record entry and ended up with joint winners. The final race, Race 9. The Auction Race attracted some lively bidding before another record amount was raised, again with 50% of the auction takings going to the winner. The final feature of the proceedings, the Raffle, duly helped the final total and had attracted some good prizes.

So, a good night was enjoyed by the regulars who attended on the evening. Many thanks are due to all our race sponsors, 50% of whom were club members themselves. Thanks to all who bought horses, donated prizes for the raffle and supported all the features of the evening.

Thanks to Adam who guided us through the evening, the Willclare, who allowed us to use the Club premises, and all who supported the event in any way and allowed us to raise a record £705 for the Club.
