Goal scorers: Noor Zaman x2, Abrar Baig

CoB M1s had a late afternoon trip to Bridgnorth in their first encounter with the team this season following a walk over earlier in the season.

CoB travelled with 12, with one arriving following a Badgers game and Noor returning to the fold. CoB started off brightly, passing the ball, keeping possession and dispossessing the hosts. Alex, Kyle and Abbasi held firm in midfield to pick out Jordan and Abrar on the flanks. Ash and Noor out front were gifted with acres of spaces and chances to run at the hosts.

The hosts settled into the game, but found it tricky to get past Akib, Jeevan and David at the back, one cross field ball well watched out, Neal not called into many saves in the first half. It would be CoB who opened the scoring, a clever ball from Ash to Noor who got up and running with the goals. Quickly after, Bridgnorth looked to push, the visitors held firm, countered and scored another through Noor.

At the break, the usual shape had started to falter away, the word from skipper Alex to hold our shape, pass the ball around and utilise what we had done so well in previous games. CoB were quick out of the blocks with Abrar getting a goal, more than an insurance policy in the game. But this somewhat hampered the visitors, becoming more sloppy, gifting the ball away, accumulating cards and losing their shape. A period of 15 minutes which could easily have seen the hosts come level. Despite this, there were some late bright moments, Zach finding space and spraying the ball wide, Abrar and Ash going narrowly wide.

CoB returned with 3 points and a smaller gap in the table to first place. After a week’s break, M1s return away at Old Sils on 26th Feb.
