CoBHC were seemingly up against it right from the start by having five regular players unavailable for various reasons, injuries, work commitments etc.. This was to be the top of the table clash to probably decide the team to go up in 1st place. For the main part the game progressed as might have been expected given the circumstances. CoB didn’t really get into their stride and any progress forward was mainly through individual efforts rather than the hoped for teamwork. The replacements who filled in for the absentees played as well as they could without having much impact on the final outcome.
Barford’s two goals came about courtesy of a penalty flick and an unfortunate error by the stand-in keeper.
A yellow card offence did not do the team any favours either.
However, CoB did well to limit the score to just two. The final twenty minutes showed just what might have been, If only ……….
In the end, CoB had to settle for second best, but remaining safe in second place. This was only the first league game in the season when the team had not scored, and only the second defeat after an unbeaten run of eight games
With no game next week, there are just two games left in the season.
