RACE NIGHT REPORT 2022
This year’s event, our second social event of the season, followed in the footsteps of our first autumn Curry and Quiz.
Race Night followed the traditional format. The few weeks leading up to the event were busy with trying to obtain Sponsors for the races, selling horses and trying hard to get members to turn up on the night to support the occasion.
In the end, mainly through the Chair’s endeavours we managed to obtain seven sponsors, a few fewer than last year.
Club members, their families, friends and work colleagues are to be thanked for the number of horses sold. Basically, we always hope to sell at least 64 horses ( 8 races, each with 8 horses). Last year we sold 112 horses which we thought was great. This year we managed to outdo that number, with 120 being sold. Several members bought 10 horses each. As usual, Pete managed to accommodate all horses sold.
Our usual race night organiser saw us through the evenings proceedings and a great night was enjoyed by the faithful few who turned out on the night. Other features of the evening were the Jackpot, the Auction Race and the Raffle.
Many thanks are due to all who agreed to sponsor a race, all those who bought a horse, or indeed, horses, all who kindly donated raffle prizes and all who enabled the Club to raise, to date, after all expenses had been collated, a goodly profit for the Club of £513.
Not as much as in some recent years maybe, but nevertheless, a just reward for the efforts of Club members
