A BUSY END OF SEASON
After the exertions of the league program and the Easter tour, there followed a brief interlude whilst the Annual Report and the AGM were prepared and finalised.
This report is accompanied by a new Photo Album. Enjoy!!
The End of Season Club Dinner
A little later than traditional for various reasons, but the Dinner was successfully held back at the Westfield Court Hotel, on 12th May. A goodly crowd of 33 diners assembled – including members and their partners. All signed up for their menu choices and Bank Transfers all in good time. The aim this year had been to keep the costs down to a manageable level. With a few adjustments to the traditional menu a good choice were offered and indeed served up to the satisfaction of all.
At the conclusion of the meal Jeevan spoke to review the season, including a second successive promotion for the 1st team and also to set some aims for the new season. The following presentations were then made to those recipients who were in attendance:
Club Player of the Year: Kyle Letts
Clubman Of the Year: Alex Makepeace
1st Team Players’ Player: Neal Makepeace
2nd Team Players’ Player: Ben Matthews
2nd Team Top Scorer: Ben Matthews jointly with Robin Stanley
Other award winners to be presented at Club Day.
All in all, a good night out. It was good to catch up with ex-member and player, John Joyce who lives locally and popped in for an after-dinner chat with members.
Club Day
Traditionally, Club Day follows the Club Dinner, and so it turned out this year on 13th May. A fine sunny afternoon greeted a good number of players, including several from the Ladies Section of the Club.
As it turned out three teams were selected – starting with about 7 a-side and increasing to at least 9 a side when more arrived. Each team player one another twice during the afternoon. Many goals were scored but it is difficult to say who won. It might have been the Whites or was it the Blues or Reds? What was important was that it was an excellent way to end the season. Many thanks to all who turned out to take part.
There was a good-sized crowd of spectators, including family members and partners.
There was a splendid pitch-side array of refreshments. Thanks to all who contributes. There was even a special cake to celebrate the 1st team’s promotion.
The afternoon was concluded by the Chair making the final award presentations of the season:
Young Player of the Year: Jack Kavanagh
1st Team Top scorer: Noor Zaman
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting was held on 15th May, at the Willclare Club and also available via Skype.
The Chair was joined by 12 members ( 8 in person and 4 via Skype). There were several apologies.
Jeevan led members through the Annual Report which was accepted and approved.
The Treasurer had recommended that the fees for next season remain the same. The audited Accounts and the Recommendations were accepted by those in attendance.
The Management Committee had put forward the recommendation that Noor Zaman should receive his Club Colours.
Also, the Management had recommended that Neal Makepeace should be made a Life member of the Club.
Both were accepted by those present. So congratulations to Noor and Neal.
The Election of Officers followed. Details of this can be found on a separate page on the web site.
Enjoy the summer – it will soon be time for the new season.
