Old Sils Men’s 5s 2-3 CoB Men’s 2ndXI

Goalscorer: Robin Stanley x3

With the overnight floods and a few cry-offs and delayed players, CoB had 11 to start the game. Early exchanges between Jordan, Abrar and Stan helped see few chances in the opening minutes. Sils threatened the CoB defence but Edna, Paul and Owen remained resolute. Isa had a cracking start to the game, keeping the ball in play from an initial shot, before passing it to Stan who fired home from close range. The introduction of Kamran saw good hold-up play across the field with Anthony stopping a superb cross on his reverse before winning a short corner. Stan stepped up making no mistake and getting his second, as it ricocheted off the defence into the net. Ian in his role as sweeper, managed the game well and collected the loose balls though at times, Sils fancied their chances, Edan making sure their CF didn’t have any chance. Another shot and this time a Penalty Stroke for CoB, Stan stepping up to seal his hattrick. The lead could have been much more had CoB put away a flurry of chances.

3-0 at the break. Ezekiel played his first game for the club, putting in strong tackles and showing willingness on and off the ball. CoB just couldn’t get out of the blocks, with Sils pegging back 2 in five minutes, including one from a short corner. CoB had their fair share of chances, Abrar having a number of these, sending these high enough to have won England a conversion, if he was at the rugby! CoB were awarded another stroke, Jordan stepping up to take, for it to go agonisingly wide. Late attacks were thwarted as CoB played the final 7 minutes in the opposition half, unable to put the game to bed.
