Another couple header this week with our Men’s 1stXI and 2ndXI both facing teams from Atherstone Adders.
Our Men’s 1stXI fielded a similar team to last week with Kyle re-entering the fold and Owen earning his debut for the M1s. The match started off brightly with both teams keeping hold of possession well. It was Adders who pulled the first punch, capitalising on a defensive error and playing the advantage to take the lead. CoB grew into the game with Kyle and Sohail combining well in their own half, finished superbly with Sohail playing Kyle through into the circle, who evaded a defender and neatly finished in the bottom corner to bring scores level at 16 minutes. Adders were soon ahead again with another defensive error allowing them to roll the ball into the net.
Jack was called in to make several saves with Akin and Mat working well to thwart attacks. Adders soon were 3-1 up before they missed a chance to put the game beyond doubt, a penalty stroke being sent wide.
Second half and CoB enjoyed some success with Jordan claiming some strong clearances in the opposition half and Noor running the sideline to chase a ball in to make an opening. Adders were resolute and weren’t often challenged in front of goal. Sean, Junaid and Taimoor grew into the game but the damage was already done and put the team back further with Adders taking their scoring to 7-1.
Next week the league game begins, giving captain Zach some much needed thinking ahead of the league campaign. It’s hoped the team fare better than their Pre-Season games.
