This week the 2nds were at least able to start with a full team and enjoy at least three subs on the side. Their opponents fielded several youngsters of their own and so it seemed that the side were fairly- evenly matched in that regard.
CoB started strongly. Jeevan had very early attempt saved by the keeper. However, soon afterwards, in probably about the second minute, Stan played the ball towards goal with Anthony tapping it home to give his side a very early lead. Shortly afterward, a shot from Jeevan gave his side a 2-0 lead. Although the home side enjoyed the majority of the possession, the Sutton youngsters were enjoying their own attacking ploys without putting too much pressure
on the home defence. Edan, Ian and Jamie coped well with all that came their way, although one Sutton chance on goal was put just wide.
CoB enjoyed several individual bursts up-field but were unable to add to their lead before half-time. During the second half the Sutton youngsters continued to show their pace and skill and eventually the visitors managed to pull one back albeit from a scrambled effort in the Home D. Midway through the half CoB added to their lead. Another attacking move with good work from Stan and Jeevan led to a cross into the D for it to be swept into the goal by the alert Anthony. There followed many more attacking runs into the visitors’ half which gave the home side two more late well-taken goals from Jeevan to seal another comfortable win for the team to continue their impressive start to the season.
Once again everyone in the team played their part, the rotation of subs happening fluently. There were many excellent individual runs forward, some sturdy defence when needed. Maybe one aspect to work on, being the build-up of play through passing to one another rather than relying on individual forays up-field. However, a good work in progress, the team now sits equal top of the league on points, separated only by goal difference, with an away game next week against the Sutton Coldfield 9s Development side.
