CoB travelled away to Hampton in an early evening start that would see the game played under lights. Arriving with time to spare and temperatures dropping, the game began as soon as a stand in umpire arrived. CoB enjoyed early exchanges of the ball with the defence of Sohail, Ash and Jeevan keeping it tight and progressive. Midfield battles were there for the taking and CoB pressed well with Zach, Kyle and Junaid enjoying much of the possession in midfield. The hosts weren’t to be doubted, springing a few attacks and stringing together a range of movements across the pitch. Defensive duty was important with chances being thwarted early on.
Jordan and Noor were busy up front, being served well by Jahed, Taimoor and Sean rotating on the wing. One such move saw Taimoor feed in Jahed and Jordan, with the resulting double chance parried away. Neal was rarely tested as the game was 0-0 at the break. Second half and much of the same, Zach and Junaid dynamic in their role and dropping into defence to cover for an advancing Ash or Sohail, with the defensive line almost pressed on the half way line. Good work from Sean and Sohail who charged forward saw the visitors win a short corner. A trap from Zach, placed well at the back post for Jordan to deflect into the goal. CoB continued to press and were again rewarded, Jordan slipping the ball left for Noor to make no mistake.
CoB looked comfortable and dominated the ball in the middle of the park. Working well defensively and in attack, moving the ball – there’s wonder whether playing under the lights every week would help this team string a few results together.
