CoB travelled away to Sutton Coldfield, looking forward to the game (and the Teas thanks to MAB Catering – who also helped at our event the night previous). The game was a fast start with a ball finding Anthony who rounded a defender and keeper to knock the ball home. The rest of the half was somewhat disappointing with a lack of positive involvement from some. Loose balls weren’t picked up all to well and the team’s shape wasn’t very balanced. Sutton had chances of their own, youthful in attack and working the ball well on several occasions. In midfield, Sutton asserted their dominance, having several chances but only managing to score one goal. Jimbo and Stan, veterans in the side were relied upon for strength and determination, the latter helping feed in Anthony for his second before the break.
Second half and a different performance. Jamie and Isa combined well down the flank, working the ball between each other and developing many attacks. Anthony was able to complete his hattrick before the 40th minute! Jimbo continued to be vocal, supported by Stan and Edan at the back. Whilst soaking up pressure and Jack being called into action on occasions, the team spirit continued to be high, moving the ball well and encouraging one another. The persistence paid off with Matt Kong nicking his first goal over the line to make it 4-1.
