In spite of Storm Darragh, our Men’s 2ndXI was one of few game continuing in the area.
It did not help the fact that the team had to wait a long time for the previous game to finish. Players were cold & wet before they started. Despite this, the team pushed on in early parts and made good work of the ball in threatening areas. The hosts sacrificed their midfield and played a deep defensive line, looking to counter on the rare opportunity offered to them. Stan and Noah were blessed with space and the chance to demonstrate their skill, with the defence of Edan, Jamie and Matt holding a high line. Players supported one another though many chances were squandered in the circle. A frustrating half with scores level.
The second half started very much like the first, with numerous chances created, but unable to convert them! The opposition tactics changed as the game progressed. The hosts played more players upfield meaning we did not have the freedom on the ball. With several counter attacks, Jamie came into his own and showed his speed and agility, tracking back and thwarting several attacks with Jack called upon for few chances. CoB were given their own chances too but unable to capitalise on them. Despite this, they continued to push, with Stan driving forward and slotting home to nick all three points with only 25 seconds left on the clock. A deserved win to round off 2024 for the side.
