A second visit in weeks to Eastern Road and a 2:30pm game against BKH M3s. This week, CoB were blessed with substitutes and a strong squad. The game started off well with both sides having some early exchanges. Zee and Jahed being utilised on the wings as Zach marshalled the back line well. Shortly into the half, a trio of arrivals bolstered the squad. Frank, having a brilliant game kept driving from his defensive role to feed the ball down the channel with Akib pressing high and doing the same down the opposite flank. Taimoor, Kyle and Jordan controlled the midfield with Junaid, causing problems for Bournville. A succession of penalty corners challenged the BKH defence but offered little goal threat. A bright exchange of play saw CoB win another corner, trapped by Jeevan whose shot scrambled over the line beyond the keeper. CoB took charge and used this momentum to push on. Sohail having great runs in the midfield found himself in the D, playing a ball to Anthony whose deft touch guided the ball into the bottom corner. 2-0 to the visitors at the break.
Second half and a nervy start, Akib overwhelmed on the flank and his midfield support a little further behind. Soon, CoB found gear again, Zee and Jahed making great combinations on their wing with Jeevan surging forward on the other with Kyle. The hosts were fortunate to win several short corners but to no concern for Neal at the back. A brilliant play from Zach and Frank at the back opened up the play, Jeevan finding Noor who slotted home. The hosts took a chance they created to bring the gap down to 3-1 before another bit of play saw Jahed play in Taimoor for his first club goal to seal the points.
A wonderful performance to put to bed a torrid run of games, something the lads could be proud of. The team came off the pitch having been rewarded for their hard work and competitiveness for any loose opportunities and their spirited efforts in supporting one another. Wonder is how this team would fare had the season had better consistency of availability across more games. Next week, the rearranged home affair with Ludlow.
