Goalscorer: Zach Jarvis
A return for skipper Zach in a game that was the first since the start of Ramadan which would see a number of players become unavailable due to observing fasts. The side also welcomed back Jacob following his ling absence to an injury, but out dropped Junaid who recently was diagnosed with an ACL tear.
The game started off brightly with both teams have early exchanges of the ball. CoB worked themselves into different areas with Kyle surging forward with Jordan. A clever bit of play saw Jeevan find Jordan whose deft touch played in Noor but the Stourport Keeper was equal to any opportunity presented. A lack of concentration during defensive routine allowed Stourport to gain a 2 goal lead before the break. CoB weren’t without their chances, a few chances across goal were met with a resolute defense or strong keeping.
At the break, the plan was to utilise the space more and pass into areas. Sohail, Mat and Frank varied their approach with passes and long balls through the midfield. Jordan continued to find himself in spaces with Noor but chances were few and far between. Stourport continued to press and capitalised on mistakes making it 5-0. Jeevan was suited to reduce arrears, a pass from Noor to him saw the ball fly over the crossbar. CoB needed a hero at the short corner they won. Zach marshalled his huddle and the plan was agreed. Kyle out, Jeevan up and taking a drag flick, Stourport clearing their lines with their feet, a penalty stroke awarded. Up stepped skipper Zach and made no mistake. 5-1 the final score with some tough games ahead to remain in Division 6.
