Another game and another story of lack of availability this time only 10 are available. Injuries late on, Ramadan and lack of availability has been the sorry story of this season. This was the game that would all but seal the Men’s 1stXI fate. A draw would help extend their chance of survival but defeat would see them relegated.
Ludlow started off well and worked the extra man at each chance given to them, taking the lead within 5 minutes before doubling it sometime later. Their chances were too quick for Jeevan, Zach and Frank. Taimoor, Jordan and Kyle did work into openings well and found joy with Sohail and Jahed on the flanks. Noor looked lively up front but the extra man for the hosts played to their advantage. CoB reduced arrears with Kyle dancing through the midfield to slot home a well earned goal. Ludlow took moments to regroup and restored their lead soon after. 4-1 at the break.
The second half and Jeevan crashed a ball through Jordan, his touch enough to bobble the ball over a stick to Noor who scored at the second asking. If there ever was a definition of end to end hockey in three touches, this would be it! Ludlow won a series of short corners and continued to press as much as they could but were made to work for it earning another few goals before the end.
A long travel for the team, to face yet another defeat. Chances are few and far between but a long journey with a somewhat spirited performance. The Men’s 1stXI confirmed to be relegated to Division 7.
