The final weekend of hockey for the Men’s 2ndXI will be two games in two days. A chance for the team to finish their Home season with a win to challenge for the 2nd and 3rd place contest. With only 10 players, CoB again hit by availability due to Ramadan fielding a relatively experienced team with usual suspects.
Old Wulfs held firm in the early exchanges with CoB enjoying much of the ball following a delayed start due to umpires stuck in traffic. CoB took a 2-0 lead within the first 6 minutes with Ben and Asif finding the net early on. From here the visitors used their experience to press and win the game back with many chances calling Jack into action. A succession of short corners saw Old Wulfs try their best but chances went wide or cleared well by Paul and Edan. CoB looked a little less clinical as the game developed. Half time and the hosts now reduced to 9 players with Ben seemingly booked with a prior engagement for the second half.
Old Wulfs made their numbers count enjoying more possession and pushing the CoB defence deeper into their half. Few chances and breaks saw CoB enter the opposite half, with one such seeing Zee slot home into the back post from a rebound. The visitors continued to press and test the hosts with several chances going wide and another few short corners being well cleared and handled by the defence. It seemed as though CoB had done enough in the opening minutes to secure a needed win for the side.
