The final game of the season and a win, to keep hopes alive. But wins elsewhere mean that the Men’s 2ndXI finish in 3rd this season.
An opening exchange of possession saw CoB go toe to toe with Sutton, Jamie enjoying much of the ball. His ability to dance between players and run endlessly was his key trait which saw him seal his first goal for the club. Paul, Edan and Matt did their best to keep trouble away from Jack, Ben and Owen working hard in midfield. Lots of chances and possession, Ben grabbing a second before the break.
Second half and the team worked hard. A few lapses in concentration saw Sutton hit back with a goal, their youngsters working the ball well in the final third to score. CoB pressed but also allowed pressure to build on them, relying on Jamie and Ben to break free and surge forward to help work openings. A long season and tough weekend, the players relied on one another to pick each other up and drive to the end. A great win to end what has been a challenging season. So much promise and progress has been made, it remains to be seen how they get on next season with changes coming.
