TORBAY REPORT 2018

A SUMMARY OF THE TORBAY EASTER TOUR 2018 ( See the photos on the Homepage)              The Normans travelled down to Torbay to take part in the annual Torbay Easter Hockey Festival. A party of over 50 travelled down to enjoy what would be another good year of festival hockey, though the weather had other ideas, the sun not making its annual appearance at the right time. The theme for our …

QUIZ NIGHT 2018

Quiz Night together with a fish and chip supper proved to be another most enjoyable night out.  Club records show that this was our 35th quiz. With a change of Social venue looming up soon, who knows where we’ll be next year!! In the end, six teams battled it out, struggling to answer Pete’s questions. (They weren’t that bad, really) The rounds of questions and the Blockbuster section kept everyone busy after a very tasty …

REPORT ON THE BEER AND SKITTLES EVENT

BEER AND SKITTLES EVENING  It was a good night out in spite of  few members turning out. It proved to be something we could do again. It’s one of those events that will take time to grow in number,  like any new social event.   Our Beer and Skittles event, a new idea for social events this year, was a great night, despite the weather! Several club members turned out at The Stechford Club to …

INDOOR HOCKEY

Much the same as  last year, Yardley HC entered the Midlands Indoor Super 6 Qualifiers which took place at Aldersley Leisure Centre. With a blanket of snow along the way, our players safely arrived for a day of fast-paced, competitive hockey.   Our first game was against Nottingham Trent Uni and much like our performances in the 1stXI, this game would prove to be our “warm-up”, a little slow to start and getting to grips …

Another nomination for Team of The Week

England Hockey Team of the Week.      This week, a second Yardley player was nominated for England Hockey Team of the Week.    Jeevan Chagger was nominated by team mate Mat Bartlett for his efforts during the 1stXI fixture against Pershore during which Jeevan took a knock to the face during the first half. Despite this, Jeevan continued to play the match before heading to hospital after the game. A testimony of resilience and …

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL RACE NIGHT

RACE NIGHT REPORT   The Club’s traditional Race Night proved to be another good night out. The club is most grateful for all who agreed to Sponsor a race and all those who bought the 80 horses that were sold. It is great that that basic support is there from club members and their friends and families. On the actual night of the event there were the usual hardy club stalwarts and their families and …
