At City of Birmingham Hockey Club we offer the opportunity to involve people from all walks of life with different experiences. We embody and value of an all inclusive culture, adapting to the needs and skills of our members, volunteers and supporters.
Play
We offer many opportunities for new, prospective and returning players of hockey to join us to play both competitively and socially be it in goal or outfield. With no obligation to play weekly, we offer the chance for you to pick up a stick around your schedule, keep up your fitness and enjoy different ways of accessing the sport.
Coach
If playing is not for you, or you want to develop your skill-set then why not take up coaching? With opportunities to support with Adult and Junior training sessions across the club. The club also supports the development of new coaches and can, where possible, support individuals in obtaining their coaching qualifications.
Umpire
Umpires are a crucial part to enabling our game to be played. With a track record of bringing through promising umpires who have officiated for Midlands Hockey, Midlands Young Umpires and Master’s competitions, the club is supportive of everyone who wants to take up the whistle and support us in enabling games to be played.
Socialise
A big part of what we do is to be part of the #CoBHC family. No matter what you experience of hockey we celebrate and value the diversity of our club and encourage each other to embrace the rich club culture we have. With many events away from the hockey pitch you are never too far away from an opportunity to get together, make friends and have a good time.
Mentoring Opportunities
With its Award-Winning Mentors and decades of experience mentoring individuals, the club provides a unique opportunity to be mentored by another club member. As well as this the club also provides support to those wanting to develop their skills and attributes in becoming effective mentors, with key skills transferable to education and employment.
On and Off Field Support
The club values the support of all of its volunteers on match days and in the build up to games and club activity. We welcome the chance for members to join our Management Committee’s to gain an insight into the workings and operations of a Community Sports Club as well as encouraging interested parties to take up official club roles.
Community Hockey
At the heart of the club’s activity is community hockey through community days, school hockey clubs and taking hockey to the people. We have successfully reached over 4000+ people in hockey activation sessions, signposting them to over 16+ hockey clubs across England, Wales, Australia, Canada and USA from our work in the community since 2019.
